HERBERT STOORMAN

Guess who I heard from. Give up? Herb Stoorman's granddaughter! Here is what she had to say:

"I heard from my dad, Herb's son, that if you go onto Google.com and type in your last name, all sorts of things come up. When I typed in mine, your site came up because it had "Mr. Stoorman" on it. I got curious and wanted to see if it was someone in my family or not. When I realized you were looking for my grandfather, I thought you might like his email address."

"I'm sure my grandfather would looooove to hear from you. They moved from Michigan to Arizona after they both retired and now they're both so busy, it seems like they never actually retired. Anyway, good luck with getting in touch with them. Let me know how it goes. :)"

Just heard from Mr. Stoorman. He said he wants to see all of you in his office RIGHT AWAY!!!

Dear Rob,

You wanted to know what I have been doing all these years:

After retirement I moved to Colorado Springs, then Arizona and am very happy here. My wife, Selma, and I entertain at senior retirement communities and other venues. We enjoy it very much.

I am glad to hear you are doing well. I think it's great that you want to go into teaching and wish you good luck and much success.

2006 Update: Sad to announce that Herb Stoorman died on May 29 in Surprise, Ariz. at the age of 80. He was active in the musical community (besides being a teacher and principal) . He performed onstage in many productions and sang in the temple choir.

Tributes:

Thank you for letting me know about Mr. Stoorman. I had many meetings with him while at Key School. Usually of the disciplinary type. We had to clean the courtyard after school for punishment. Jason Greisdorf and I usually did a lot of cleaning.

Thanks again Rob, sad news indeed.
